Water Collection Superintendent

Trumbull County, Ohio

Trumbull County Ohio, is a combination of both urban and rural communities situated in the northeast corner of Ohio. It is between the Youngstown, Cleveland and Akron corridors. The County's population is approximately 225,000. Trumbull County consists of five cities, six villages, and twenty-four townships.

The Wastewater Collection Superintendent directs employees in the Package Plant and Sewer Maintenance units of the Trumbull County Sanitary Engineers Department. She/he is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units. Responsibilities include training employees, planning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Possess a Baccalaureate from an accredited College of Engineering. Must have knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering. Must have 2 to 4 years experience in the Sanitary Engineering field. Have knowledge of maintenance and operation of wastewater treatment and collection systems. Must possess an Ohio EPA Class 3 Wastewater license. We are willing to consider one with a class 1 or 2, with the written understanding that the successful applicant must acquire his class 3 license within 2 years of employment with the County. Have skills in drafting engineering plans and specifications. Drafting of solutions to customer complaints and problems. Exercise independent judgment and initiative. Have the ability to make moderately complex engineering computations. Work with computers and software appropriate for the industry. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public contacted within the scope of the position. Must have a valid drivers' license.

Knowledge of safety procedures associated with collection system work; knowledge of and ability to use tools and equipment common to collection system work; ability to identify unsafe condition of equipment and facilities and take appropriate action; ability to work independently and with others; ability to make independent decisions regarding maintenance of the collection system and maintenance of equipment.
